The reverse engineering project has reached another important milestone. Our recent work has focused not only on identifying individual components but also on building a structured hardware documentation system that will serve as the foundation for mapping the entire electronics assembly.

The project continues to revolve around the GD32F303CBT6 microcontroller, for which the first version of the pin database has now been created. Several critical interfaces have already been verified, including the SP3232 RS232 transceiver, the SWD debugging interface, the debug UART, and the CS1237 high-resolution ADC responsible for reading the toolhead load cell.
Measurements have confirmed the communication lines between the GD32 and the CS1237:
PA5 → CS1237 SCLK
PA6 → CS1237 DRDY/DOUT
The first version of the load cell connector documentation has also been completed, while reverse engineering of the 14-pin main connector (Print Port) is now underway. The power distribution pins (24 V and GND) have already been identified, and the remaining signal lines will be documented during the next measurement phase.
The next major objective is mapping the TMC2209 stepper driver, cooling fans, heater control, LEDs, and the remaining peripherals connected to the toolhead PCB.
The long-term goal remains unchanged: to fully document the original Anycubic Kobra 3 toolhead electronics and develop an open, Klipper-compatible firmware that allows the factory PCB to operate as a standalone toolboard.
Every new measurement is immediately integrated into the project's documentation, allowing the entire reverse engineering process to be followed step by step as the hardware map continues to evolve.

Anycubic Kobra 3 Toolhead Project – Another Milestone: Successful Firmware Backup and Preparing for a CAN-Based Toolboard
Today marked another major milestone in the Anycubic Kobra 3 Toolhead project.
Our objective is not to modify or preserve the original firmware. Instead, we are developing a completely custom firmware that will transform the factory controller board into a Klipper-compatible CAN Tool MCU with only minimal hardware modifications.

A new long-term development project has officially started at the 3DPS workshop.
The goal is to perform a complete reverse engineering of the original Anycubic Kobra 3 toolhead electronics.
